2018 Season Predictions: Seahawks & Wildcats

For the first time since 2011, I do not expect my Hawks to make the playoffs.  Too many areas of uncertainty, and too little margin for error now.  The Rams are the class of the NFC West now, and the talent gap between them and us seems way too big with the dismantling of so many pieces on the legendary Legion of Boom.  Couple that with a brutal schedule midseason, and you’ve got a recipe for a rough year of introspection.

Seattle Seahawks: 8-8

@ CHI – W
DAL – W
@ AZ – W
LAR – L
@ OAK – W (played in London)
@ DET – W

AZ – W

Speaking of the top teams, there are a lot of them that are much more likely and in position to compete for the 4 division titles and 2 wildcard playoff berths: Saints, Panthers, Eagles, Redskins, Rams, Vikings, Packers, maybe even Cowboys and Bears.

Seahawks have a brutal schedule, I could easily see them losing 4 in a row after the Detroit game.  It’s all about who’s healthy and when.  Doug Baldwin is out for a while, KJ is out for a while, and too many rookies starting at key spots right now.  Just not seeing a path to 10 wins.

Kansas State Wildcats: 4-8

SD – W
Miss St – L
UTSA – W
@ WVU – L
Texas – W
@ Baylor – L
OK St – L
@ OU – L
@ TCU – L
Kansas – W
Texas Tech – L
@ Iowa St – L

The quarterback situation is bad.  Skylar Thompson and Alex Delton aren’t accurate, and will have trouble generating a run game with no respect paid to the passing game.  Also, the Big 12 is a powerhouse of offensive talent.  West Virginia probably has the best QB in the country, Oklahoma is loaded for a playoff run, Oklahoma State and TCU could be the dark horse conference champ, and Baylor and Texas Tech will always be scoring a lot of points.  Heck, even Texas could play closer to expectations than I anticipate.
